Physical therapy The role of physical therapy for the treatment of pectus deformity in general and certain specific problems seen in pectus deformity is an important and often unrecognized treatment option. However, there is only less evidence to successfully treat pectus deformity especially more severe forms. Muscle construction can help 'cover' deformity, but exercises especially to build the pectus muscles can make the most pronounced pectus especially in the severe pectus excavatum. As an attached or complementary treatment, physiotherapy can be offered to patients as part of a fixing program for carinatum pectus or pigeon coconut, or after a NUSS operation for the correction of a patient's excavatum pectus.
